Wise Like Jocko Willing

The 3rd Edition of the “Wise Like” commentaries continue with SEAL Jocko Willing who I find to be extremely interesting. I highly suggest everybody look into this individual by listening to any podcast he stars in.

Here are the most important lessons I’ve documented down below:

(P.S. There are so many good ones but these are the best in my opinion)

1. Discipline Equals Freedom

Pre-schedule normal reoccurring activities to execute everything else the rest of the day. What I mean by that is, make yourself a schedule where you have certain blocks of time where you allot to habits and small events that you do consistently. For example, shower times, workout times, morning rituals, etc.

That way, you can free up the rest of your day to do whatever you want. By being disciplined and doing what you need to do every day based on your planning beforehand, you give yourself the freedom to do what you want.

2. Exposing Yourself to Darkness to See the Light

Enjoy the light by first seeing darkness. This simple saying can have massive effect on your lives. What Jocko is preaching is that for any person to realize that their situation is bright and positive they must have something to compare it to. If they have grown up in darkness, or a situation that looked bleak and negative, when you consider your current situation you will think of all the good things you do have.

This is common practice when considering what you are grateful for. If you remind yourself of all the luxuries you are surrounded with compared to what the poorest of poor have, you then realize that your situation is actually quite amazing!

3. If you want to be tougher, be tougher

This is clear and concise. If you want to get better at anything, just go out and force yourself. You will be in awe at how simple and easy it is to accomplish many of the goals you have for yourself.

4. Extreme ownership

No excuses. Take control of your life and make sh*t happen. Handle what needs to get done and now and don’t let anyone else do it for you.

Now, start implementing these ideals into your daily lives and live every day epic!

Thanks for reading! 🙂

P.A.S.E.

So What is PASE?

I’m not referring to the paces we take while walking or pacing ourselves in life, however the four energies that we all have inside of us.

Practical. Action. Social. And Emotional.

Recently I’ve been into self-improvement and have been listening to some podcasts and mentors of mine one of which is Tai Lopez. When I first listened to him I knew right away he knew a lot that I can learn from.

One lesson of his was that people have these four energies inside of themselves, some of which are more dominant than others and some that are weaker than others. I myself am PESA. But, if you had asked me only 1 year ago I would tell you completely otherwise, something like a SAPE. This is because we are constantly changing and find certain energies more valuable for where you are in life.
